LOST & FOUND

What to do with a stray or if you find an animal

If the animal needs medical attention, TAKE THE ANIMAL TO THE NEAREST VET HOSPITAL. Logan's Run Rescue is not equipped to handle medical emergencies. Logan's Run Rescue does not have a facility or a vet on staff. We are a nonprofit with no government funding.

Provided the animal is not in need of emergency care, and if no contact information can be found, you have a few options:

1. Take the animal to the Humane Society . They will gather useful information about where and when the animal was found as well as check lost reports, scan for a microchip to see if the family is already searching for their pet. By reporting strays to the county shelter, we streamline the process so that families can reunite more quickly with their pets because there is a central place to search. More pets get reunited this way. Feel free to call them daily to check the animal's status!  Your local veterinarian's office will also be able to scan for a microchip.
2. If the animal is friendly and willing, Bring the pet home and contact the Humane Society and local rescues right away by phone or email a found report. Please provide detailed information of the specific location where the animal is found including a picture of the animal.
3. Contact WKRK and local rescues (Click here for link) and provide them with the same information as detailed in #2 above. Logan's Run Rescue does not accept posts from the public on their Facebook page, but we will cross-post any information on WKRK's Facebook page
(Click here for link) regarding: Missing, Lost or Found animals. We will also post information of the animal by email at info@logansrunrescue.com .
4. Contact the local sheriff and let them know of the found animal and file a report.
5. If after 72 hours the owners have not been located, please call (828)  837-4944,
option #2 and leave a message.
One of our volunteers will return your call
within 48-72 hours.
We do not have a facility or shelter and are not
equipped to handle medical emergencies.

There are so many ways in which an animal can end up as a stray.
We all need to do our best to practice uncompromised compassion
when dealing with animals and our fellow community members.
Please remember that animals can escape from even the
most loving and responsible family!

By working with other organizations in the community we better
overcome our limitations and provide great care for the animals
in our neighborhoods:
